Summer School: Who is Santiago Anyway?

Do you ever have what seems to you to be a really basic question about something you care about? Maybe you know exactly what the name for the Partnership means OR maybe you knew once and have forgotten OR very reasonably maybe you’ve wondered where the name came from and just haven’t remembered or wanted to ask.

Today in Summer School is the day we remind ourselves of why the Partnership is the Santiago Partnership.

Santiago means James in Spanish.

The Santiago Partnership models all that it does, as much as it lies within us, after the instructions in James in the Bible.

James 2:15-17 tells us: “Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

And the reason why it called “Partnership” is because everything that is done in Cayambe is carried out in partnership with Ecuadorian leaders, churches and organizations.
