Response in Chaos

By Kim Delp, missionary with the Santiago Partnership

Everyone reacts differently in chaos; I think we have seen that the last couple of weeks. Partners in ministry here in Ecuador have responded how I would expect them to, it is how they always respond, with open arms, open hearts, open minds and open doors. The question, “who is your neighbor” is what I imagine God’s description being. It is those close to you, acquaintances and strangers that need help. This is what we have witnessed this week in light of the pandemic. The project has been working very closely with the Ecuadorian Ministry of Health, the governing body that the clinic falls under. The health centers in Cayambe and across Ecuador are overwhelmed and are unable to keep up with all that is needed of them at this point. The project donated personal protective gear to the ministry of health so their employees can be safer. The Ministry of Health also has asked that the clinic and possibly the church, Iglesia Emanuel can be used as an area to isolate patients that test positive for the Coronavirus in the Cayambe area. Lastly, they are working to collect non-perishable food items as well as household items for vulnerable families in the community without resources to help sustain their homes and families. We know that people all over the world are scared, many are without resources and all are unsettled about what the future holds. As missionaries we are trying to take our lead from our Ecuadorian partners, to serve others, to help others help. If you would like to be involved what is happening here, YOU can be a part. If you would like to donate financially to the purchase of non-perishable food items and household items, you can click on the link to do so. Learn more and donate here: Learn More
