An International Reunification

Even international reunifications are possible with the Home for At Risk Children in Cayambe.

Aran, the 4-year-old boy pictured here and a Venezuelan immigrant, was brought to the Casa Hogar Emanuel due abandonment by his mother here in Ecuador. Due to this abandonment and a lack of desire on the mother’s part for reintegration back with her and since there was no other family in Ecuador, the professional staff in Cayambe made contact with Mr. Albert Valecillos who is the father of the child. Mr. Valecillos is a part of the military in Venezuela and was prepared to assume the care and protection of the child. Accordingly, a connection was created with the Consulate of Venezuela in Ecuador, which is the body responsible for the protection of the rights of Venezuelan citizens immigrants. Aran’s case was analyzed through meetings and the revision of reports by the local court. In the end, the judge ordered that the family reunification should move forward of the child with his father in Venezuela. After a humanitarian flight that would take Aran to Venezuela was suspended in December, on March 22nd, 2022, Aran was reunited with his father in Venezuela.
