Story of Dignity - Rosita

My name is Rosita. This is the story of my family. My two nephews Juanito and Carlitos were cared for in the Casa Hogar Emanuel for two years. It was a very hard time for us because my sister, the mother of my two nephews, couldn´t take care of them due to her disability. My nephews currently live with me along with my children, which is a permanent struggle. They understand that I am not their mother but that I love them and want to protect them. This reality is not easy for my nephews, but we continue in the struggle because we are family and family supports each other with whatever comes our way.

I want to thank the Casa Hogar for continuing to support us, sometimes giving us advice, sometimes just giving us the strength to move forward. Thank you to the “tias” of the Casa Hogar for continuing to help us in this new stage of our lives. I know this situation won’t go on forever but their help has been crucial during this time just helping me to know where to start and encouraging me to push forward in the struggle.

The message that our friends in Cayambe share as our vision for the project is “Sembrando con amor la esperanza de una vida digna“ or “Sowing with love the hope for a dignfied life.” Our goal with our ministries is that each person that we minister to has a sense of dignity and even more that they feel valued and respected in who they are and their value to us as a human being. We want each person that we serve to feel respected and loved and for them to know that they have value to us. Our goal is to serve the recipients of our ministries with this end as our focus.

In fitting with this theme, we have started a new initiative called Stories of Dignity. The point is to share about the ministries that are being carried out in Cayambe and the greater Cayambe area over the next two months through story. Normally for us during this part of the year, the donations to the ongoing ministries slow down and so we hope that these stories will inspire you to help us to create even more stories in the future. We still have a ways to go to raise our needed goal in receiving another $18,190 over the next two months to support the ongoing work that we are doing in Cayambe. Will you be a part of making more Stories of Dignity?
