THANK YOU NESTLÉ!

With the support of friends from NESTLÉ, this past weekend the children in the Home for at Risk Children, the staff, and others participated in a communal vegetable planting to create a home garden! This will not only contribute to the nutrition of the children in care but also promotes the sharing of cultural knowledge related to organic vegetable cultivation and environmental stewardship.

During the event, a workshop was conducted on nutrition and healthy eating for the parents and relatives of the children living in the Home. This served as a valuable opportunity to emphasize the significance of not only cultivating organic crops but also the importance of maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet.

The event ended with a "pambamesa," an indigenous term, which means a communal meal where everyone contributes something to share. Instead of conventional plates, we used cauliflower leaves as a creative and eco-friendly alternative. The feast featured an array of local foods, including potatoes, corn, beans, melloco, cheese, and watermelon, making the pambamesa a delightful and memorable experience for everyone!

The collaboration with NESTLÉ in organizing the "Healthy Nutrition" event and workshop allowed us to actively engage our community in sustainable practices and reinforce the importance of both organic farming and nutritious dietary habits. The pambamesa, with its fusion of flavors and traditions, served as a delicious reminder of the richness of Ecuadorian cultural heritage.
