New Community Church Workshop
New Community Church of Chicago (Bronzeville) has been a longtime supporter and collaborator of the Santiago Partnership. On Saturday, November 8, we had the privilege to present at a workshop New Community hosted, “Pursuing justice for the marginalized through community development in Cayambe, Ecuador.” Our team members addressed the audience on their respective ministries, giving a synopsis of their missions and goals for the future.
Attendees were allowed to choose one area of ministry they were interested in and were divided into small groups for roundtable conversations. Discussions centered on how the church can reach the least of these in their surrounding communities and be most effective. What a wonderful opportunity to reflect on what works in another country, another culture, and see how we could adapt those ideas here in the States. Collaboration is how we learn and grow. Collaboration is how we love one another well.
Church members catered a delicious lunch of homemade soups, sides, and desserts for all to enjoy before everyone convened back together for a Question-and-Answer session with our team. This time allowed for building deeper connections between supporters here with the friends they serve in Ecuador. We are so grateful for the solid relationship we have cultivated with New Community and how it widens our mission field.
