Fanesca

Today we celebrated an Ecuadorian Holy Week tradition of Fanesca. Fanesca is an Ecuadorian soup made of 12 grains to represent the 12 disciples, which has many significant family and cultural traditions. You can compare the making of Fanesca as being similar to making Thanksgiving dinner in that it takes more than a day to make and often involves multiple members of the family, if not the whole family.

Today, we invited many of our beneficiary family members to come eat Fanesca with us. It was a special day of a very unique Ecuadorian tradition. It was a real treat to spend the time as a family with the project and our friends and some of the families that we minister to.
