Kids Helping Kids

The Santiago Partnership is so grateful for the generous spirit of children, who proved you are never too young to make a difference in this world! Thank you to all who participated in the church day camp, raising money on behalf of Ecuadorian children. We appreciate you so much!

This summer Norquay Evangelical Covenant Church in Canada hosted around 30 kids from kindergarten to 6th grade for their annual Day Camp at their church. The theme this year was 'Rocky Railway: Jesus' Power Pulls Us Through'. Children spent the week learning about how Jesus' power gives us strength, hope, boldness, everlasting life, and the ability to be a good friend to all!

“Our kids enjoyed learning about Ecuador and the Santiago Partnership. They really resonated with stories from the Children's Home which we heard from Pastor Natasha Westerhoud, the Delps, and from one of our parishioners who went on mission there years ago with the Canada Covenant. The kids were touched and shocked to hear how difficult it can be for kids just like them in Ecuador, and how education is something that shouldn't be taken for granted,” said Katy Rayner, Associate Pastor.

A goal set to raise enough to get 3 students the supplies they need for school. Throughout the week they gained pledges from the congregation as well. Through a few significant matching donations, and a huge giving moment on Friday from the kids, their goal was achieved six times over!

Rayner added that on Friday their teaching topic was how Jesus' power helps us love others and be a good friend. “Our story was about the early church in Acts being united in love with one another. Our memory verse was John 15:12, ‘Love each other in the same way I have loved you’. It seems like the kids were inspired by this. Along with their families, they truly put Jesus' love into practice by coming on board in support of the Children's Home.”

The children enjoyed chatting with Joel and Kim and really connected with the stories of the Children's Home. Children and staff prayed for the home and the students often throughout the week and hope they have a wonderful year of learning, growing, and finding the hope of Jesus!

The Santiago Partnership loved partnering with the church and the children! It’s a blessing to work together, for the same mission, serving the same Jesus.
