Read a first-hand account of the trip given by one of the children.
"We couldn't sleep because we were so excited to be traveling to an unknown place we had heard so many stories about. We had to pack clothes for both the cold and the heat!
Finally the day came and everyone was ready! I actually fell asleep on the bus and when I woke up and opened my eyes there were so many beautiful mountains and it wasn't as cold as it was in Cayambe. In the distance we saw the Tungurahua Volcano! It was beautiful.
We had a delicious breakfast when we first arrived and then got ready to go to the "Chocolate Factory." It was incredible to learn about the chocolate-making process. At each stand, they gave us a little taste of chocolate, and it was delicious. The place was beautiful too, and we took a lot of pictures.
When we returned to the hotel, we had lunch and then changed clothes to go to a waterfall. We walked a lot, there were lots of trees and plants, and we could hear the birds singing. Suddenly we came to a very high waterfall I hadn't seen before. We crossed aa suspension bridge that was a little scary, but holding my aunts' hands, we crossed safely. We arrived at the "Devils's Cauldron", which is a beautiful, very noisy waterfall. The wind was blowing there and we all ended up soaked by the waterfall. I loved it!
We returned to the hotel to change out of our wet clothes, have dinner, and get ready to go to an "Enchanted Forest." I was very excited about what would happen there. Fairies and queens greeted us, we were able to dress up as Harry Potter, and we climbed up to where there were dragons and more fairy tale dolls. I had seen them in movies before, and now I could take pictures with them.
The next day we went to a "Dinosaur Park," where there were live animals like llamas, goats, cows, rabbits, ducks, and other creatures. There was also a fun dinosaur show!! Then we went to a "Tortuga Beach" pool where there is warm water as well as cold water pools.
We had a great time, enjoying ourselves, laughing, eating, and seeing new places. No one was working, but we just enjoyed the ride with our aunts and uncles from the Home. Thank you, aunts and uncles, for taking me on this new adventure. I'll never forget it!"
