Bethany Church Team Visit

Twenty-two members of Bethany Covenant Church in Berlin, CT joined forces with our staff on the ground in Cayambe serving as the hands of Jesus. We were also accompanied by volunteers from the church, Iglesia Misonera del Valle, from Sangolqui.

Part of the volunteers worked at the Santiago Children’s Home assisting in construction projects, painting the second floor, and spreading the gospel through VBS.

Other volunteers spent their time serving with the medical caravan team at the Santiago Children’s Home. The team also traveled to Caranqui to do a one-day Medical Caravan there.

Overall, the medical team saw 130 patients! Psychiatry saw 11 patients, Pediatrics saw 38 and General Medicine saw 80.

The Bethany Church group has been a blessing to the Santiago projects located in Cayambe. We had the opportunity to serve together in activities to improve the spaces used by Sumak, the Intervention Program, and Children’s Home, promoting dignified environments. Those spaces are used for different activities such as psychological and spiritual care and support, Social Work, Community Facilitation, empowerment and entrepreneurship, and promoting the well-being of our children, adolescents, women and families. Free health services were provided to individuals and families with limited access to medical care, focusing on both general and specialized care and prioritizing early disease prevention. This effort strengthens access to health care with a commitment of holistic attention, humanity and dignity to the well-being of communities.

“The experience has been deeply enriching. Their visit not only transformed physical spaces but also lives, both for those of us who work directly on social projects and for our beneficiaries. Thanks to the service provided by the Medical Caravan, the love of neighbor became tangible through the medical care sessions held in the cities of Ibarra and Cayambe,” Spiritual Facilitator Mirian said.
